Becky Bearse (bebE)

Becky Bearse (bebE) currently resides in Truckee, California, where she teaches and creates new works of art as beBE dance’s Founder, Choreographer & Artistic Director. Faculty at InnerRhythms School of Performing Arts, Becky teaches everything from Creative Dance to FusionRhythms. Focused on passing along the joy of dance in order to develop the next generation of artists, Becky’s dynamic and multi-disciplinary classes are unlike any other in the industry.

Born and raised outside Boston, MA, Becky began her training at the age of three and is trained in all forms of dance, from ballet, contemporary and jazz to Latin, African, hip-hop, breakdancing and house. At sixteen, Becky was the youngest dancer to ever be accepted to the prestigious Bates Dance Festival, which was a pivotal experience in her growth as a dancer and future choreographer. Becky has lived and traveled across the U.S., teaching children and adults of all ages and levels at schools, dance studios and non-profits.  She has trained with such teachers as Mady Cantor, Debora Chase-Hicks, Leslie Butler, Dan Wagoner, Naby Bangoura, Arthur Hall, Denise Leitner, Dante and the Batsheva Dance Company. In Los Angeles, Becky was teaching assistant to hip-hop teacher Kemba Shannon, who toured with Pink, Madonna and Celine Dion.  Becky has also danced as a principal dancer with Donlavy Dance in Los Angeles.

After dancing with various choreographers, Becky found that her background never quite aligned with the traditional one medium company. Seeking to break the molds of this format, Becky founded her project to project based fusion dance company, beBE dance, in 2012. Since then, she has presented works across the Bay Area at venues such as the Walt Disney Family Museum, CounterPULSE’s 2nd Sundays, Works in the Works, Dance Mission’s New Choreographers’ Showcase and The Garage. Becky also has had the honor of being a Resident Artist at Sunset Movement Arts, The Garage’s RAW (Resident Artist Workshop) and LevyDANCE’s Salon Series. As a current RAW Artist, a global non-profit that supports up and coming artists across all mediums, Becky has also presented new works at venues in such places as San Francisco, Los Angeles and Sacramento.
